Breaking the world record! USTC's perovskite battery achieves 26.7% photovoltaic efficiency

Recently, Professor Xu Jixian's team at the University of Science and Technology of China has made important progress in perovskite solar cells, setting a certified world record for perovskite cell steady-state efficiency of 26.7%. It was included in the internationally authoritative world record list - Solar cell efficiency tables (Version 64) and released on July 3.

It is understood that the so-called steady-state efficiency in the field of photovoltaic cells refers to the highest efficiency that the cell can achieve under stable working conditions. This efficiency is measured under standard test conditions, usually the efficiency of photovoltaic cells in converting light energy into electrical energy under given light intensity and temperature.

This is the third time that Xu Jixian's team has updated the world record list on behalf of USTC after 2022 and 2023. In 2023, the team created a certified efficiency of 26.1% for the trans-type device, achieving a double breakthrough of exceeding 26% in perovskite cell efficiency and breaking the world record monopolized by traditional formal devices. This achievement is another leading breakthrough in continuous research on this basis, which has a positive role in promoting the construction of stacked cells.

The solar cell efficiency table is reviewed and published by the Australian Advanced Photovoltaic Center in collaboration with scientists from the United States, Japan, Italy and other countries. It has a history of nearly 30 years. Its objectivity and honor are recognized by the international photovoltaic academic and industrial fields. It represents the most cutting-edge technology trends in various photovoltaic segments and has important guiding significance. This inclusion represents the breakthrough and leading ability of USTC in the frontier research and development of photovoltaics.

This research is the team's latest achievement in the field of new perovskite single junction and next-generation crystalline silicon- perovskite tandem cells . A number of core technology patents have been applied for, laying a solid foundation for further industrialization.
